Beyond Awareness – Culturally Safe Practice in our Sector, WorkUP Queensland’s flagship program aimed at supporting sector workforce to embed cultural safety in its approach, services and interactions with users, and workplaces.

Being informed through community consultations, the program has developed into a series of four face to face workshops being piloted initially to domestic and family violence, sexual violence and women’s health and wellbeing sector services from Brisbane, Moreton, Ipswich and Gold Coast. It will be monitored and evaluated for further delivery across Queensland.

Cultural safety is beneficial for everyone who walks in through the doors of your service, but for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are staff or accessing culturally safe and appropriate assistance while in crisis, it can be the beginning of a healing journey. Our call to action is to reflect on the temperature of cultural capability across your workforce and environment in preparation for how this program could benefit your workforce.
